I'm An Apostle, I Can Do Anything.I always took my parents for granted. My (natural) mother was a hair dresser and my Dad...well there was nothing he could not do! From fixing the car to making repairs in the house, he could do it with style and still find a spiritual principle in it to preach about for the next meeting. So as I kid I did not visit the salon for a cut, or take my dress to a seamstress to get taken up. We never took our car to the shop or called in someone to fix the pipes! At the time of course, I figured that this was the way things were, just because we were poor and could not afford things back then. However I have come to see this as a vital part of apostolic training. Stick with me here, because I am about to reveal a secret that most folks do not realize about this higher level ministry. When we got to Mexico, my childhood had served me well. We were so limited. The language barrier was a thing in itself. It took us months to discover where the main shops were. The day we found Carl's Junior Burger joint was a time to remember! Nothing came easy. Haircuts? Car repairs? Who could we ask and how? So out of necessity more than anything else, we learned to do everything ourselves. At that stage Apostle Les had already started building up the ministry and with his computer programming skills we well on his way to establishing it. God Just Said...NO!We wanted to publish books! We wanted to sell our messages. After looking around online, we discovered that everything was impossible. God blocked every door. WHY LORD?! Can't you just make it easy for us? He just said..."NO!" and that was that. So we learned. With a couple of planks of wood, wood glue and an old printer we made our first Way of Blessing book! How awesome is that? That set us on a trend that has remained all these years. From there I learned to design book covers, make graphic advertisements, banners, web site design...you name it! If the ministry needed it, we learned it! It extended to every part of our lives. I learned to cut hair, apply make-up for camera work and do photography. I tell you, once you get going on this road, there is no stopping. And who would WANT to stop? We were having the time of our lives. Suddenly those closed doors were blessings. One day as we were looking at our training schools, I turned to Les and asked him if it would be possible for him to program a schooling system for me. He just smiled and with his good humor he said, "Of course I can! I am an Apostle! I can do anything!" We had a good chuckle about it, but the phrase stuck. It was really true! There was nothing in the natural or spirit that limited us anymore. If a job needed doing, someone was there to learn how to do it. We no longer needed to rely on outside help. Because of this, the sky was the limit. Book covers with OUR anointing on them! We could publish what we wanted to without restriction. It has made us so free that today, AMI makes every single one of its media in house. Our web sites, lists, partner sites and school systems are all programmed, edited and designed by the Executive Team themselves. This entrepreneurial spirit saturates everything in our ministry. From being dissatisfied enough to ask God for 'more' to being brave enough to rock the boat in the church. Then to being arrogant enough to think we can do things exactly the way God wants them done. There are many in the church who are happy with following the road as it is. But then there are a few like us. Those Apostles who are called to be a little different. Those Who Are Dissatisfied! Those who say ..."If EVERYONE is doing it that way, then surely I can find another way!" If you are one of these that have the courage to step out into your calling, there is a challenge ahead. There is a reason why you cannot settle. There is a reason why you feel this urge inside of you do things differently "just because." Apostle Paul had it too! Romans 15:20 Yes, I have so strived to preach the gospel, not where Christ was named, lest I should build on another man's foundation: So brothers and sisters, we are in good company! Let the fire in you out! Do not allow anyone to say to you "It cannot be done." Sure you might just be starting off with a few planks and wood glue, but soon you would have established an apostolic foundation that will last for years to come. Is this not worth the time in the wilderness and struggles in the desert? If you are an Apostle...Then with the Holy Spirit, you really CAN do anything! |
